Biphenyl has a wide range of wavelengths for sensitizing to ultraviolet light. The benzoin is below 3400A, and the benzoin alkyl ether is below 3900A. Biphenyl is sensitized in a wide wavelength region below 4800 A, and thus can be used for curing of a thick film resin, which is a characteristic not previously found in sensitization of UA resin.
